Members of Parliament sitting on the  budget committee on agriculture have indicted parliamentarians (themselves) for giving out fake seeds to farmers which has resulted into famine in the country.

Every season Government has been giving at least one or two tonnes for women MPs of either maize or bean seeds to MPs to distribute in their constituencies.
Most of the seeds the MPs donated have not been germinating and those which have germinated have contaminated local breeds to make the extinct.

Today members of the Budget Committee of Parliament have faulted the Ministry of Agriculture over continuous supply of fake seeds to farmers which has led to food insecurity.

The Minister of State for Agriculture Christopher Kibazanga apologised to the members on their bad experience with the seeds, saying Government will investigate the matter.
