Ballot boxes being ferried to Kagoma county talkying centre

Vote counting exercise for the Kagoma county by-election is underway. The exercise that started around 4.30pm indicates that the incumbent NRM’s Moses Walyomu is still on the lead.

Total provisional results for Budondo s/c indicate that Walyomu has polled 4316, Brandon 2429 while Batuwa has polled 2075.

Kagoma MP seat fell vacant in March after Court presided over by three Justices; Fredrick Engonda -Ntende, Paul Mugamba and Alfonse Owiny-Dollo annulled the election of Moses Walyomu over voter bribery.

The justices overturned a decision of Jinja High Court that had rejected evidence of voter bribery against Walyomu which had been brought against him by his opponent Alex Brandon Kintu.

Electoral Commission hence nominated four candidates includong NRM’s Moses Walyomu Muwanika, FDC’s Timothy Lusala Batuwa, Muhammad Bizimack Bidondole and Alex Brandon Kintu, both independents.

However, according to results coming in, the race is still tight between NRM’s Walyomu and independent candidate Brandon.

At Kayera P/S polling station Bidondole 09, Batuwa FDC 41, Kintu 10 and gannered Walyomu NRM (63) voted. At Buleba P/S Bidondole 00, Batuwa FDC 101, Kintu 03 and Walyomu NRM 191

Buwagi A Bidondole 26, Batuwa FDC 90, Kintu 47 while Walyomu NRM 134 and in Buwagi B Bidondole 17, Batuwa FDC 56, Kinti 31 and Walyomu NRM 114.
At Kiraga Store Bidondole did not poll a single vote, Batuwa FDC 21, Kintu 03 while Walyomu polled 159 votes while at Mpemukirabusa Bidondole 01, Batuwa FDC 23, Kintu 12 and Walyomu NRM 400.
