Renown Ugandan advocate for the recognition of the full and equal rights of sexual minorities, women and other marginalized social groups Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera has reportedly been arrested at Kigali international airport-Rwanda where she had gone to meet international actor and film director Morgan Freeman

When Ugandan state authorities were hunting for Dr. Stella Nyanzi, she sought asylum at Kasha’s home and all through prison life Kasha took care of her children

It’s not clear whether her arrest is related to her link with Stella Nyanzi or to her activities as a gay activist or another matter as SpearNews couldn’t reach authorities at the Rwandan airport.

Dr Stella Nyanzi who was released  just two days ago made this note of her arrest:

My friend Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera was arrested and detained on arrival at Kigali International Airport yesterday.

She had earlier departed from Entebbe Airport at 15:00HRS on Thursday 11th May 2017. She was very excited about traveling to Rwanda to meet with international actor and film director Morgan Freeman. There is no crime in traveling across borders to meet with renowned creative artists who inspire us to be better.

Kasha is Uganda’s leading queer feminist activist who has spent her life advocating for the recognition of the full and equal rights of sexual minorities, women and other marginalized social groups.

When the Ugandan state authorities were hunting for me, Kasha gave me asylum in her home and ensured my children’s security and safety.

Uganda needs our human rights defender free! #RwandaWhereIsKasha?
