Eleven Secondary school teachers in Nakasongola district have been earning government salary for two years using fake appointment letters.

The affected teachers include among others, Amos Mbalita Ssenyonga, the deputy head teacher Kisalizi Secondary school, Shamillah Nalubega, Eliphaz Erickson Kivumbi and Editor Ndiraba, all teachers of Kalongo Seed Secondary school.

The teachers are said to have presented forged appointment and posting letters purportedly signed by the Education Ministry, Permanent Secretary to Nakasongola district between 2015 and 2016 for deployment. As a result, the district enrolled them in the government payroll. Each of the teachers is believed to have earned between Shillings 2.8 and 10 million since then.

On Wednesday, Fiida Nabirye Kyendibaiza, the Nakasongola Chief Administrative ordered the arrest of the suspects. They appeared before the Nakasongola Chief Magistrate Athanasius Mbabazi and Grade one magistrate, Rophine Achayo for uttering false documents and theft of government funds.
