Judicial officers from Luweero and Nakaseke districts are on the spot over allegations of corruption, delayed judgement and questionable remand of suspects. The accusations stem from the residents who petitioned the Inspector of Courts.
The courts under review include Wobulenzi, Kiwoko Grade One and Luweero Chief Magistrates Court.
In one of the complaints, Kakabala Parish Councillor Salim Zimula accuses a magistrate at Kiwoko Grade One Court of soliciting a bribe of six million Shillings to grant bail to two suspects.
The suspects managed to raise 2.8 million Shillings to secure their release. However, the magistrate is threatening to cancel their bail for failing to clear ‘his balance.’
