Security personnel dressed in plain clothes have sealed off the constitutional Square in Kampala, to prevent members of the Democratic Party (DP) from accessing the grounds.
This fallowed mobilizations from DP leadership throughout the city calling upon members and Ugandans to march in protest of amending article 102(b) to allow president Museveni stand in 2021.
Police also sealed off the party headquarters a few meters away from the Constitutional Square, this lead to a scuffle between the party youths and police officers.
Some party supporters and leaders including vice president Mukasa Mbidde were arrested and taken to CPS and police is yet to state which charges will be placed against them.
Last month Democratic Party, launched a campaign dubbed ‘Togikwaatako’ (we dare you to touch it) to fight amending article 102(b).
